- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, February 29 - 2004 at 11:24
- PRESS RELEASE
Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT company, has launched the FibreCAT CX series to offer a dynamic range of next-generation networked storage systems that support a larger number of end -users than the existing models and deliver more power, functionality and scalability.
"The new FibreCAT CX systems deliver exceptional value for money and the best software capabilities for the mid-range market, with the added benefit of investment protection," said Colin Britto, Sales Manager, Large Enterprises, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "They address the paramount need of this segment to manage information growth through higher performance and functionality, without additional costs. The launch of these systems proves that FibreCAT continues to provide the broadest range of capabilities while maintaining a clear upgrade path and unique compatibility between the current and previous generations of FibreCAT CX system."
FSC will also supply improved software for data replication and backup and recovery, as well as improved features like SnapView and SAN Copy. SnapView now includes SIME (SnapView Integration Module for Exchange), an advanced integration module for Microsoft Exchange environments. Furthermore, SnapView can be used by the new entry-system FibreCAT CX300, while SAN Copy offers a function for incremental data copies. Additionally, the list of competitor systems, from which data can be moved to a FibreCAT, has been enhanced.
"These additional features in the new FibreCAT CX storage systems will provide more powerful storage solutions to the mid-range segment, allowing them to deliver enhanced performance while utilising the existing environments," said Britto. "The availability of three different models will ensure that enterprises can choose the systems that are best suited to their requirements."
FibreCAT CX300 is an entry-level model tailored for workgroup environments that require full SAN (Storage Attached Network) functionality in a small package. It is a compatible upgrade from the previous generation CX200.
FibreCAT CX 500, designed for departmental applications that require increased capacity performance and local and remote replication, offers twice the capacity of the CX 400, and is also a compatible upgrade from its forerunner model.
FibreCAT CX700, aimed at data centre applications, is the most powerful mid-tier storage array available today. It supports eight back-end Fibre Channel ports, enabling enhanced linear performance scaling and up to 240 drivers. The FibreCAT CX 700 is a compatible upgrade from the FibreCAT CX 600.
