FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company, celebrated its second win of the Dubai Quality Award in the Gold category.

This win makes it the first company to have received two awards in the prestigious Gold category as well as the first to have won the Dubai Quality Award three times.

The award was presented by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, to Hamdi Osman, Regional Vice President, FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa at a ceremony held in Dubai, UAE.

"Quality is at the core of our business principles," said Hamdi Osman. "The award is a constant motivation for us to excel in quality across our business operations. It is the "whatever it takes" spirit of our employees that ensures we deliver customer satisfaction and good business results year after year."

The Award in the Gold category is given to past winners of the Dubai Quality Award who have demonstrated strong, tangible and sustained improvement over past performance. The Award measures nine areas with a focus on people and customer satisfaction, impact on society as well as business results. The RADAR evaluation method that provides comprehensive and stringent assessment measures, was used to appraise the applicants.

FedEx has a strong track record with the Dubai Quality Award. The company has won it in 1997, 2000 and 2003. The Award is another example of the acknowledgments that FedEx has received in its drive for quality. Some recent examples include:

• In March 2003 FedEx was honored with 'Investors in People' certification by the Department of Economic Development
• In April 2003 FedEx wins the Gold Category of the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award
• In June 2003 FedEx was recognized for its ongoing commitment to environmental preservation by winning the annual Dubai Cargo Village Environmental Awareness Award for the second year running
• In October 2003 the company was granted membership of the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme on the basis of its high standards of customer service.
