Hamly International to display Beele/CSD products at Gulf Maritime Exhibition
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 03 - 2004 at 12:21
- PRESS RELEASE
Hamly International Abu Dhabi, the local agents and distributors in the Middle East for Beele Engineering B.V. of Aalten, the Netherlands, will display a full range of Beele/CSD Products during the Gulf Maritime Exhibition.
"One of the products to be spotlighted is the enlarged range of crusher plugs from Beele Engineering, which have special application in the maritime industry" said Mr. P. John, Marketing Manager, of Hamly International.
"On board of ships and offshore installations, plastic pipes represent a serious source of problems in the event of fire. At a temperature of about 75 oC the plastic softens, and spontaneous ignition occurs at 140 oC.
This allows the fire to spread via the resultant opening in the deck or bulkhead." said Mr. John.
"The Crusher Plug by Beele Engineering provides a solution to this problem. The plug is made from a fire resistant rubber type FRR-E (Fire Resistant Rubber-Expanding). When exposed to flames or to temperatures above 200 oC the rubber expands to over ten times its original volume, and as a result, totally compresses even aluminium pipes. Consequently, the conduit opening carrying the pipe is completely closed
and the fire is prevented from spreading any further" he explained.
"The Crusher Plug consists of two identical parts, which are simply installed at each side of the conduit opening after the pipe has been laid. Both parts of the plug are pushed into the space between the ducted pipe and the wall of the conduit opening. Besides being fire resistant, the Crusher Plugs are also gas and water tight. Their gas and water tightness is 1.5 bar and 2.5 bar respectively" elaborated Mr. John.
Another product which will be presented, is the temporary fire-resistant seal. "Penetration openings for cables and pipes represent a potential hazard during building and construction work. The openings can allow a fire occurring in the course of the work to spread to other spaces. With the introduction of a temporary fire-resistant seal, Beele Engineering now offers a fire safe solution for this problem. The temporary seal can be used both in building construction and in shipbuilding." explained Mr. John.
