Philips hosts 9th annual regional distributors conference

Philips Electronics recently held its 9th annual Philips Middle East and Africa (MEA) regional distributors conference during which it celebrated a strong performance in 2003, improved distributor relationship and its regional leadership/ Nr. 1 position in the domestic appliances and personal care segments.

More than 45 senior representatives of Philips' regional distributors took part in the conference to review the past year's performance and review the current year's strategies. The event was held at the Kwa Maritane Resort in South Africa.

"This year's conference continues to strengthen the Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care division ties with our distributors. In the past two years we have made remarkable progress which has seen Philips move to the number one position in this category in the Middle East and Africa region. We will continue to move forward by building on this solid foundation with increasing professionalism and delivering creative propositions to the marketplace," said Robert van de Riet , Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care Regional Director.

Several distributor awards were presented during the conference, including Distributor of the Year Award for "Continued Leadership" to Al Ghandi Electronics Co. in Dubai, Distributor of the Year Award for "Best Progress Toward Leadership" to United Y.M. Naghi Electronics Division in Saudi Arabia, a Recognition Award for "Improved Distribution and Sales Growth" to Soukkar Trading Co. in Syria, and a Recognition Award for "Better Visibility and Key Account Management" to Mohamed Abdullatif Almana and Partners in Qatar.

"We are delighted to celebrate all our distributors and these four in particular for their dedication and efforts to develop the domestic appliances and personal care business in their markets. We at Philips are fortunate to enjoy such close ties with our partners throughout the region and see the relationships with our distributors as an example of how shared trust and transparency generates success," van de Riet added.

In addition to a complete program of business-related presentations and seminars, the attendees enjoyed several group activities and outings, including safaris, cultural events and performances by traditional tribal dance troupes at Sun City Resort.
