Land Rover signs as the official car sponsor

This unique event will be held on 8th March 2004 at Abu Dhabi's Al Ghazal Golf Course, one of the world's leading desert courses where the worlds' first pro-am golf tournament will be played on sand.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Marwan Halabi, Marketing Manager, Land Rover Middle East & Africa, said, "We are very excited about Land Rover's participation in an event that will provide UAE golfers the chance to compete with some of the world's leading golf professionals."

He added, "It is the first time the golfing fraternity worldwide will be playing on a sand course and the players will be driven to the off-road holes in Land Rover vehicles instead of the conventional buggies. Land Rover's association with this event further reiterates our commitment of creating, inspiring and bringing to life experiences that are unique and special."

Top stars such as Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Jean Van de Velde and Paul McGinley will be competing in the event, which will follow the traditional pro-am format with 32 teams of one professional and 3 amateurs taking part.

Tickets to the event are available at golf clubs throughout the UAE, the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament and at the Al Ghazal Golf Club.
