Volvo wins award from Dubai Police

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, February 18 - 2002 at 11:26
  • PRESS RELEASE

Last year as part of the Dubai Summer surprises, Volvo, in collaboration with the Dubai Police Head Quarters conducted an interactive safety show, aimed at increasing public awareness of the importance of safety on our roads.

This included the display of concept safety cars equipped with interactive screens that explained to visitors the effort that goes into designing one of the world's safest and most exciting cars.

Although the main focus was educational, the exhibition, held at Deira City Centre also guaranteed more light-hearted fun for the children. A racetrack had been set up for the kids to race radio controlled scale models of the Volvo S60.

The award was presented to Volvo to thank them for their extensive participation in the exhibition. Major Aqeel Mustafa Mohd. Al Janahi, on behalf of the Higher Committee of Techno Surprises said, "we are greatly appreciative and thankful to Trading Enterprises for their support. Their excellent exhibition helped to make our safety campaign a success and even today we receive much positive feedback from the public.

Of course the link between Volvo, producer of the world's safest cars, and the Dubai Police in educating the public on road safety, is an obvious one. The objective last year was to encourage visitors to visit the safety display and to chat with our police officers about safety on Dubai's roads. The response was phenomenal and something we look forward to repeating the in the future".
