Good response to the 6th National Career Exhibition

'The 6th National Career Exhibition for the Banking & Financial Sector, currently underway at Expo Centre Sharjah, has received a good response from UAE's young, aspiring nationals, both men and women,' said Mohamed Al Ali, Head of Public Relation Section of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies.

"On the first day of the show," he said, "over 1000 nationals visited the event, and more
than 500 job applications were made by them."

"The exhibition," he said, "is a complete Emiratisation and national human resource development event, with UAE's best career, educational and training opportunities brought under one roof. Daily, two seminars are being held alongside the show, providing insights and information to the visiting nationals on educational training and career development.

Today, 8th March, being Women's International Day, a programme has been organised at 8 pm at Expo Centre Sharjah, for UAE's women involved in the banking and financial sector, in recognition of the important role played by them. The programme has been organised by the HRD Committee in the Banking Sector in cooperation with the Woman Consultation Committee & the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies.

The exhibition not only features UAE's leading banks, finance and other companies presenting career opportunities to young nationals, but also has brought together UAE's leading organisation's solely dedicated to national human resource training and development.

These include the Human Resource Development Committee in the Banking & Financial Sector, the
Emirates Institute for Banking & Finance, TANMIA, Administrative Development Institute, Al Thiqah Employment and Rehabilitation Project for Handicapped and Tawteen.

"Al Thiqah Employment and Rehabilitation Project for Handicapped," said Mr. Haider Talib Erabeth,
Manager of the Project, "is a unique humanitarian undertaking, aimed at promoting individuality and self-financial supporting opportunities for disabled people.

"Operating under the Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped, the first project has been launched by the operating of a typing office by the Club members for the Economic Department of Sharjah's branch office in the industrial area. The action plan of the project is to facilitate a job environment and reduce obstacles, which may face disabled people in the work place, besides providing employment opportunities for the disabled," he said.

Tawteen, another participant at the show, is one of the leading firms contributing to the development of national human resources in the Gulf Region. An entity of the mother holding company, Human Soft for IT and Human Investments, the company aims at promoting the prospects and abilities of nationals as well as
enhancing the national workforce's role in the national economy of the Arabian Gulf region. "We do this," said Ms Mona Bu Humaid, Career Adviser at Tawteen, "by providing the private and public organisations with qualified and trained human cadres in addition to helping nationals of various academic levels in planning and developing their careers.

"Our mission," she said, "represents in assisting both the community and youth in fostering the belief in the value of work, production, professionalism, abiding by law and professional attitudes and work ethics.

"On the other hand, our mission is to make all organizations; especially those of private sector believe that investment in local human cadres is an investment opportunity that would give them a better luck in realizing their strategic objectives and not vice-versa," she concluded. At the exhibition, Tawteen has so far
received over 80 job applications.

The Institute of Administrative Development is another participant which offers training for nationals who work in government departments and establishments. "The Institute," said Dr. Yousif Al Sabri, Director General of the Institute, "which is a government company, was started with the objective of developing
capabilities of employees; improving the organization of government - organization and work procedures; studying administrative problems and proposing suitable solutions; spreading administrative knowledge inside and outside the U.A.E.; conducting training programs, etc."

The show is open everyday until 10 March 2004 from 10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm.
