LG Electronics meets ME market demand with world's largest capacity washing machine
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 11 - 2004 at 15:04
- PRESS RELEASE
LG Electronics has announced the unveiling of a new front-loading washing machine with a capacity of 13kg, the largest capacity of any home washing machine on sale today.
Mr K.H Kim, President of LGE's Middle East and Africa Operations, said: "Demand in global markets for front-loaders is on the rise, and the trend is also seen here in the Middle East. Seeing how consumers let laundry pile up and wash it once a week, developing the world's largest capacity washing machine made perfect sense."
Demand for washing machines with a larger capacity that can even wash bedding is expected to increase. This is partly due to greater awareness of the health and hygiene benefits of washing bedding regularly as well as clothes.
LGE's new TROMM 13kg front-loading washing machine (model no: WD-R130AH) has the same exterior size as the 12kg model, but it boasts more room inside and enhanced space efficiency. LGE developed the New Direct Drive, and Triple Damping System technologies to get around the difficulties in making large-capacity motors for bigger washing machines, and the job of controlling vibrations.
The TROMM front-loader improves washing power and draining power by 11 per cent and 60 per cent respectively. Water savings of 12 per cent and electricity savings of 10 per cent are also generated, making LGE's latest washing machine innovation kinder on the environment.
Mr Kim continued: "By launching this product in the Middle East, LGE is expecting to reinforce its technological leadership in the global front-loading washing machine market."
