USD2.3bn Dubai metro, May bids

A basic plan for the Dubai light metro rail project has been approved and tenders will go out in May or June, reported Gulf News. The first 50km line will stretch from the Sharjah border to Jebel Ali and cost USD2.3bn. It will run 4.7km under central Deira, under the Creek, and up the Sheikh Zayed Road. A second line will run from the airport to the eastern side of the Creek.
