ROADEX 2004 receives over 6,000 visitors

The inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi International Road Exhibition, ROADEX 2004, concluded yesterday after receiving encouraging response from over 6,000 visitors who attended the event that took place at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition & Conference.

The next edition of ROADEX will be held March 12-15, 2006.

ROADEX 2004 focused on the road, tunnel and bridge industries and provided a platform for 149 exhibitors from 23 countries to display related products and technologies over an area of 14,000 square metres. The event was supported by the International Road Federation (IRF) and the World Road Association.

Expressing satisfaction at the success of ROADEX 2004, Mr. Ahmad H Al Mazrouie, Acting Director General, GEC (General Exhibitions Corporation) said "We received over 6,000 visitors for the show. For an inaugural event, the response we received from exhibitors, sponsors, visitors and the media has been extremely satisfactory. The exhibition is expected to grow from 14,000 square metres this time, to around 20,000 square metres in 2006, with the exhibitor numbers expected to move up from 149 in this edition to over 200 the next time around".

"ROADEX addresses an attractive niche as it focuses on the vibrant road industry that is seeing tremendous growth and investment in this region. With the inclusion of traffic and parking segments in the next edition of the exhibition, we expect to make the event bigger and better in 2006" Mr. Ravi Kumar, Specialist, GEC.

"ROADEX 2004 received good feedback from exhibitors who found it a prime opportunity to display their products, to a focused audience" said Mr. Ahmed Albuainain, Project Coordinator, GEC

Quixote, a Chicago, US-based transportation safety company with 72 branches is looking forward to participating at ROADEX 2006 after receiving good response from visitors at this edition. "ROADEX 2004 compares favourably with other exhibitions in the region and we look forward to participating in the next edition as well" said Rigg F. Warton, Middle East Regional Manager, Quixote.

Ayman Azzeh from Ghantoot Transport which displayed a specially designed vehicle for pavement solutions, at ROADEX 2004, said "For a debut exhibition, I think ROADEX 2004 broke new ground. The exhibition was successful beyond our expectations. It was a well organised show and helped us meet a wide variety of industry professionals from both the UAE and abroad".

The 2nd Gulf Conference on Roads conference received 950 participants and was conducted in parallel with ROADEX 2004 at the same venue. It concludes on March 18. The subsequent editions of the conference will be held in Oman and Bahrain.
