Announcing the appointment, Mark Pell, TNT's Managing Director Gulf and Saudi Arabia, said: 'Ben is held in the highest regard by TNT, especially for his hands-on skills. His appointment underscores the importance we attach to the vital market of Kuwait.'
Roberts, a Briton, comes to Kuwait after running TNT's Abu Dhabi operation where he presided over a sales increase of a record-breaking 22 per cent in two years.
In Kuwait, TNT is opening the doors any day now of a huge new depot in the Future Zone at Shweikah Port. Kuwait has also been linked to TNT's road service, Economy Express, which will be Gulf-wide when Muscat joins in later this year.
Economy Express, a massive trucking operation, has been a windfall for TNT. The integrator is basking in record profits, yield and volume in the region and Economy Express and the big rigs have played a major role.
Roberts says: 'The expanded road network will be tremendous for Kuwait. It stands to reason, of course, that the new depot and road service will also play a role in Iraq, to Baghdad, Basra and beyond.
'We are the world's leading B2B company so we've got a lot to offer. We've invested heavily in our people, technology, services and facilities.
'Kuwait is a hugely important market. We have unswerving commitment to it.'
