His Excellency Sheikh Jassim Bin Thamer Al Thani inaugurates new adidas store in Doha

In the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Jassim Bin Thamer Al Thani, Vice President of the Qatari Olympic Committee, Qatar's prime shopping mall Doha City Centre is now home to the world-famous 'three stripes' brand adidas, making it the first in the country and the fifth exclusive adidas retail outlet for Gulf shoppers.

The new store in Qatar forms part of the growing adidas network of more then 50 exclusive brandstores in the Middle East.

adidas-Salomon Emerging Markets hosted a special opening at the store with star Qatar-based footballer Fernando Hierro, formerly of Real Madrid fame named 'as one of the best defenders in the world' also marking the occasion with a store visit.

The new adidas store is situated on the 3rd floor of Doha City Centre and, as a completely new store, is a prime sports retail outlet for this popular mall.

adidas-Salomon Emerging Markets Managing Director Ralph Kotterer said: "Due to the growing awareness and enthusiasm for sports and sportswear, the Qatar, UAE and total Gulf market continues to offer adidas-Salomon excellent growth potential. The new store opening in Doha is part of an aggressive regional strategy to support our aim to position adidas as the leading sports brand in the world."

The store, owned by prominent Qatari businessman Mr. Jaber Al Mussalam of Sports Corner Co., boasts a full range of adidas products from advanced footwear technologies to the latest in state-of-the-art and fashionable sports apparel. New ranges for this season include:

- new footwear innovations a³ and ClimaCool
- the new adidas Colors and Sports Performance apparel range for Summer 2004

Mr Jaber Al Mussalam said: "I am pleased to be associated with such a renowned brand and I offer my store as a showcase to the highest quality genuine sportswear products for both everyday and sporting use."

The new Doha store joins two exclusive adidas brand stores in the UAE at Dubai's Deira City Centre and Bur Juman Shopping Centre. An adidas factory outlet can be found on Dubai's Airport Road. The adidas-Salomon Emerging Markets headquarters, located in Dubai governs the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Balkan States, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece. Since the 1970s when adidas products came to the region, the company has locally gone from strength to strength. In 1995, the first adidas offices were established in the Middle East.
