Dubai imports over 1.7 billion AED of gold jewellery from the biggest manufacturer in the world, Italy, making it the 2nd biggest importer of Italian gold jewellery after the United States.
Mr. Andrea Turcato pointed out that due to the strong and vital position it occupies in the region, they are planning on setting up a permanent distribution centre here to represent the centre of Italian gold jewellery in the region. He also invited the Dubai Chamber to organize for a delegation visit to Venice where this organisation operates from; highlighting that it's the third largest province in Italy after Milan and Torrens. He suggested January, June or September as possible dates for the visit to coincide with the jewellery shows taking place during those months.
Mr. Moaz Barakat reaffirmed the important position occupied by Dubai, as he mentioned that the emirate has been selected as the first port to launch a 'Damas' collection made by 54 Italian designers.
