His Excellency Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, UAE Minister of Communications and Chairman of Emirates Post, today welcomed a visiting high-level delegation from Swiss Post, led by Dr. Ulrich Gygi, Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Post, and expressed the hope that the visit would pave the way for further cooperation between Emirates Post and Swiss Post.
His Excellency emphasised that Emirates Post and Swiss Post had a like-minded approach to postal business, with a strong focus on quality. This approach, he said, forms a firm basis for building new joint ventures.
Beside Dr. Gygi, the delegation included Mr. Geoff Formstone, Managing Director, GATS UK and Mr. Daniel Baettig, Chief Financial Officer, Swiss Post International. Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post, also attended the meeting.
H.E. Al Tayer reiterated Emirates Post's strategy of leveraging technology and global alliances to achieve its objectives of emerging as a leading global player in postal business. He said Emirates Post always welcomed long-term relationships with dynamic postal operators like Swiss Post, as part of its commitment to upgrade services and launch new ones.
Dr. Gygi expressed the Swiss Post desire to expand cooperation in different aspects, including volumes and distribution. He said Swiss Post was also keen to look at Emirates Post's IT systems and integrate and interface these for mutual benefit.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Gygi described the visit as highly productive and said he was optimistic that it would pave the way for greater joint-venture coordination between Emirates Post and Swiss Post.
The Swiss Post officials were on a two-day visit to Dubai at the invitation of Emirates Post. During the visit, the officials familiarized themselves with Emirates Post's automated sorting operations, mail fulfillment facilities at Electronic Document Centre and took stock of GATS mail operations at Dubai Mail Transit Hub.
