New investment opportunities available for Dubai's business community

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a commercial delegation from Cameroon headed by Mr. Bouba Nasrou, Administrator Civil Principle from the Ministry of Industrial and Commercial Development in Cameroon.

The aim of this visit was to promote the commercial and investment opportunities available in Cameroon to the business community in Dubai, and to strengthen economic and cooperation ties between the two countries.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al Mutaiwee, the Director General of the DCCI praised many policies implemented in Cameroon with the aim to consolidate economic relations with the rest of the world, namely the privatization policy which he said opens the door for more foreign investment. The Director General also thanked the Ministry of Industrial and Commercial Development in Cameroon for this initiative which he assured will help establish communication channels between the business communities on both sides.

Mr. Nasrou discussed the fields of business and investment opportunities, the most important being the forestry sector, as the forests in Cameroon contain an estimated 1517m3 of timber. The other sectors which are also very important are the energy, agricultural, tourism, and mining sectors. "Cameroon has the 2nd best hydroelectric potential in central Africa", he mentioned.

Mr. Boma, the Deputy Director of the Investment Code Management Unity in Cameroon said that France is the biggest investor in Cameroon, along with many other European countries, but stressed that their goal is to attract more investment from this region particularly from Dubai.
