EIM officially announced today that more than 2.7 million e-mails infected by the new global Netsky virus sent to its subscribers were totally cleaned. Netsky virus mass attack has been detected by EIM Mail Anti Virus Service since 21 March 2004.
'Imagine what would have happened to EIM subscribers if we have not incorporated this anti virus application into our e-mail architecture?' said Abdulla Hashim, Senior Manager Business Development & Sales, EIM. 'We want our subscribers to be aware with the size and volume of threat they would have been exposed to if this dynamic protection mechanism was not functioning. This is why whenever an e-mail is cleaned a message is sent to its recipient informing him/her that EIM has removed a virus from his/her messages.'
EIM anti virus is a free service automatically offered to all subscribers for a period of one year until 22 December 2004, after which subscribers will have the option either to continue with it and pay minimal fees or unsubscribe and no charges will be paid.
