'As a key economic region with tremendous potential for growth, Dubai provides MIT Sloan students with an ideal case study on conducting business in emerging markets,' says Professor Kenneth P. Morse, Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan and the Managing Director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Centre.

Many of these students are interested in exploring more into Dubai's pre-eminent history in trade. They are keen to know more about Dubai's recent developments and its cultivation of an innovative and entrepreneurial business culture with its existing small and medium enterprises.

According to Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment, 'This trip will provide the MIT Sloan students with an opportunity to meet with leading firms and government organizations in the UAE, and to better understand Dubai's unique culture and heritage.' The timing of the trip also coincides with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Small and Medium Enterprises and the Entrepreneurship Conference, featuring MIT faculty Richard Locke, Ken Morse and Lester Thurow.

Mr. Janahi adds, 'The students have the opportunity to visit a broad cross-section of multinational companies, local and regional firms, and government institutions, the combined efforts of which are core to the vision of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, for making Dubai a regional hub of excellence and knowledge creation.'

MIT Sloan is one of the top business schools in the world. Its students represent more than 60 countries, and as many different industry and functional backgrounds. What unites them is a desire to lead, a commitment to innovate, and a curiosity about the world. MIT Sloan's MBA program provides rigorous education in corporate strategy, economics, operations, marketing, accounting, finance and management. Its graduates, including Carly Fiorina, Kofi Annan, and John Reed, go on to start and lead the businesses that are defining 21st-century commerce.
