Over 400 guests were treated to an opportunity to meet the Jaguar Racing team, including drivers Australian Mark Webber and Austrian Christian Klein, as well as the legendary three times world Formula One champion Sir Jackie Stewart, adviser to the team.

During the reception guests were entertained by on stage interviews with the Jaguar Racing drivers and Sir Jackie Stewart, as well as film footage about the Jaguar Racing team and the new Jaguar R5 car.

HSBC is the largest non-technical sponsor of Jaguar Racing. Its involvement in Formula One dates back to 1997 when it began working with the Stewart Ford team, which had just been started up by Sir Jackie Stewart and his son Paul. The team was acquired by Jaguar in 1999 and has been known as Jaguar Racing ever since.

David Hodgkinson, Deputy Chairman of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, who hosted the reception, said " HSBC is proud to support Grand Prix through the Jaguar Racing team. We congratulate Bahrain on securing a Formula One race for the Middle East, which will be seen by a worldwide audience of more than 300 million people. Our sponsorship provides a myriad of opportunities for us to promote our brand and to treat our customers to the thrills of Formula One."

During the months of February and March HSBC ran a highly successful regional credit card promotion on a theme of Grand Prix, with 10 lucky winners receiving an all expenses trip to the race in Bahrain on 4 April. Runners up for the promotion, and winners of a separate competition on HSBC's Personal Internet Banking service were guests at the reception.

A Jaguar racing car with its eye-catching HSBC livery has additionally been touring shopping malls in the UAE throughout the promotion period.
