  • PRESS RELEASE

Third year undergraduate students from the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) visited the Quality and Excellence Centre at the Department of Economic Development (DED), to gain first hand information about quality management concepts and the Dubai Quality Award (DQA).

The 15-member student group was headed by Dr. Stephanie Jones, Associate Professor, UOWD. Dr. Lway Nackasha, Adviser Quality and Business Excellence at DED conducted a presentation for the students, giving an overview of the Dubai Quality Award with a focus on the long-term benefits of winning quality awards.

"The concept of quality management is a significant aspect of every business process and impacts the performance of a company considerably," said Dr. Nackasha. "The long term benefits of quality management can be experienced only if there is a deep rooted culture of excellence and we are happy that these students have shown an early interest in the subject," he added.

"The visit to the DQA Secretariat was part of UOWD's ongoing programme to enable students to experience first hand the strategies and concepts of quality management," said Dr. Jones. "Dr. Lway's presentation did much to elaborate the concepts of quality management and the students gained valuable insights into the process of gaining an award," she added.
