Toyota xA retains high sales figures
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 31 - 2004 at 14:48
- PRESS RELEASE
Six months after Toyota unveiled the xA, the Japanese car manufacturer's first foray into the demanding youth market, Al Futtaim Motors has announced that the initial high sales figures of the car have remained consistent.
Sales of the xA surpassed initial forecasts in October, the car's first month on the market, forcing Al Futtaim Motors to increase its order from Japan to meet the high demand.
Colin Leitch, Managing Director, Al Futtaim Motors, commented: "The outstanding success of the xA goes far beyond our expectations. The UAE is a very competitive market, and the audience xA targets, trendy, strongly-opinionated youth, is challenging to reach."
"The consistent high sales numbers prove that the car has struck the right balance in offering the best of Toyota reliability and quality as well as a young and dynamic style," Leitch added.
With a 1.5 litre engine with advanced VVTi (Variable Valve Timing intelligence) technology, a performance tuned suspension with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, and super ECT (Electronic Controlled Transmission), the Toyota xA was the first sporty hatchback to debut in the GCC markets in late September.
As the latest addition to the Toyota roster, the xA compliments the vehicle range that already encompasses major segments in the car market. The range of impressive vehicles, coupled with an efficient customer service programme, has made for an excellent sales year for Toyota, with an increase of 23 percent in 2003.
Al-Futtaim Motors, a member of the Al-Futtaim Group, one of the largest and most successful business houses in the Gulf, offers a comprehensive line-up of high-quality vehicles and automotive products. This includes Lexus and Toyota passenger cars, four-wheel drives, light commercial vehicles, industrial vehicles, special purpose vehicles, tyres, batteries and other accessories and automotive products from some of the world's leading brands.
