Mercedes-Benz Middle East launches new C-Class pocket rocket

"The new C 55 AMG Mercedes-Benz offers an eight-cylinder model in the C-Class for the first time and enters the performance domain of thoroughbred sports cars," said Domingos Piedade, Head of AMG, who revealed the car at the Bahrain Grand Prix track. "With 367 hp and 510 Newton metres of maximum torque this new 'bahnstormer' has previously unattained peak values in this vehicle class."

From standstill the new C 55 AMG accelerates to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds, and guarantees sporty driving pleasure at the highest level with its standard sports suspension and five-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel gearshift buttons and AMG SPEEDSHIFT.

Agility and dynamism are the keynote of the C 55 AMG's extra-firm AMG sports suspension. New springs, dampers and mountings, a seven per cent more direct steering ratio and a 14 millimetre wider front axle track make for even more precise and sporty handling. Eighteen inch twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels, the high-performance AMG brake system and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) featuring enhanced response and an innovative traction function offer highest levels of sharp, sporty handling.

With its new, extended front section and its punchy tail, the C 55 AMG displays a confidence and character all its own.The bonnet, wings, headlamps, radiator grille and rear end are all distinctively styled, and are combined with the standard-specification AMG bodystyling. The new AMG sports exhaust system with two twin chrome-plated tailpipes is not only striking in appearance, it also produces a distinctive V8 sound.

The driving area boasts a new instrument cluster with four classic-style circular gauges, a speedometer calibrated up to 320 km/h and an AMG sports steering wheel with steering-wheel shift buttons.

The standard specification of the C 55 AMG includes THERMATIC automatic climate control, a power-operated glass tilting/sliding sunroof and aluminium linea trim (as an alternative, dark bird's eye maple can be supplied). Door sills in brushed stainless steel with AMG logo complete the stylishly dynamic interior ambience.
