Empost launches major training and development initiative
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, April 06 - 2004 at 12:14
- PRESS RELEASE
The young and rapidly growing UAE's national courier company, Empost, has launched a comprehensive and detailed training and development programme for its staff, its Deputy General Manager announced today.
"We have carefully researched our staff capabilities, identified our needs, targeted the areas for development - so that we are able to match our needs with the upgraded skills base of our people," Al Midfa added.
He pointed out that another departure from the norm is the identification of different development and training requirements among different sections of the Empost family.
"We have a two-pronged approach. We, at Empost, have instituted a Focused Training Programme that is tailor-made for Empost Staff relating to the development of soft skills. We also have a Special National Training Development programme for our UAE nationals currently in Empost and for those yet to join," Al Midfa said.
National company
"Being a growing UAE national company, we are obliged to develop our staff skills - especially the national segment that are considered to be the future leaders of our business," he pointed out.
The continuous and on-going training and development programmes are designed to suit the market standard and requirements. Therefore, on-going training - as long as the staff is employed by the organisation - will be the target of the MOTIVATE Programme.
"We do not only focus on the soft skills development of our staff. We look at the overall development too. Through proper and focused training, we develop and instil in an employee the full knowledge of the nature and the requirements of the business, self confidence and trust in the products and services that the organisation presents to the market," the company Deputy General Manager said.
Long term commitment
"The most important factor is to create in him or her, the sense of long-term visionary commitment to the success and growth of Empost," said Al Midfa.
Herself a UAE national, Hunaida Abdullah, Marketing Manager of Empost, stated that under the MOTIVATE Programme, it will be compulsory for all UAE national staff to participate.
"Empost is looking forward to developing its current national staff, while at the same time, we are also encouraging more UAE nationals to come forward and join us," Hunaida said adding that: "It is our strategy to double the number of UAE nationals within the organisation in the very near future".
She also pointed out that in the interest of preparing the leadership of Empost to ensure its long-term success, the MOTIVATE training and development effort will also include selected non-nationals, who will train along with nationals as part of motivation scheme. "This is in their best interests as also of the organisation that they are part of."
The MOTIVATE training and development effort is the first development programme for Empost, which will be implemented in coordination with Emirates Post Training Centre. This will bring all the strengths of the parent organisation to bear on the upgrading of Empost staff skills base," added Al Midfa.
The MOTIVATE Programme will be initiated soon at the Emirates Post Training Centre. "We later hope to use other facilities for our human resources development effort as it expands and grows. Currently we find that Emirates Post Training Centre is capable of fulfilling our initial requirements," Al Midfa stated.
