- Egypt: Wednesday, April 07 - 2004 at 10:36
- PRESS RELEASE
Oracle Corporation, the world's largest enterprise software company, has announced its implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite for the Raouf Ghabbour Investment Company, Egypt's leading automotive seller, to help reduce costs, improve profitability and drive future growth.
Dr. Aram Youssef, Vice Chairman, Raouf Ghabbour Investment Company, said: "We operate an extensive network across Egypt and the wider Middle East, in a very competitive and maturing market sector, with customers who demand the highest level of service and after-sales support. We wanted to improve profitability and communication between our branch network, and the Oracle E-Business Suite provides an integrated, up-to-date set of tools to manage those business objectives."
Faster automotive repairs, more integrated information
A key element of the Ghabbour Group's Oracle implementation is the deployment of Oracle Depot Repair, which delivers specific business benefits to automotive servicing organizations. This solution manages a wide spectrum of repair types for Ghabbour's range of vehicles andprovides Ghabbour's repair technicians across Egypt with access to a knowledge base for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems for improved productivity. It also helps ensure customer needs are met by giving repair technicians and depot managers a comprehensive view of customer information, and automates billing customers for repairs based on contractual entitlements.
Alongside the Oracle E-Business Suite, the Ghabbour Group has also implemented Oracle Financial Analyzer to provide current financial reporting for its management team. The company relies on the Oracle Internet Developer Suite to develop its own bespoke applications as required, which then integrate seamlessly with the Ghabbour Group's Oracle business solutions.
Oracle's strong presence in Egypt, combined with its local support and sterling customer base, secured the US$350,000 contact over a number of other ERP vendors. Oracle's Egyptian partner, Cairo Information and Engineering Technology, implemented the solution, and will provide ongoing support and technical backup.
"Our staff, working across the country, will now have a unified information source from which to conduct business, including our extensive repairs offering. The Oracle E-Business Suite will enable us to expand into new territories, as well as offering customers a total service package," said Youssef.

About Raouf Ghabbour Investment CompanyIn 1950, the late Ghabbour Brothers - Kamal and Sadek Ghabbour - had the foresight to envision the Egypt of today, a modern country with booming industry, increasingly modern infrastructure and a growing consumer base. Their desire to see their vision come true led them to establish one of the very few truly private companies at the time, Ghabbour Brothers. This establishment has earned invaluable goodwill over the years in the automotive industr, thus preparing the ground for today's direction. Established over 50 years, the Ghabbour Group currently occupies the leading position in the Egyptian automotive market, selling small passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, buses, construction equipment, trailers, spare parts, luxury coaches, scooters and motorcycles. It is also an important regional player in the Middle East bus market and its current aim is to expand its export operations to the international markets of Europe, Africa and the Near East.
