Dubai Crown Prince issues decree forming administrative committee for Dubai Municipality Statistics Centre

Dubai Crown Prince, UAE Defence Minister and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued a decree forming an administrative committee for the Statistics Centre in Dubai Municipality.
According to the decree, Arif Obeid Al Mehairi, Director of Statistics Centre, was appointed as head of the Administrative Committee and the members of the committee include Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Murad from Dubai Police, Khalid Al Qassim from Economic Development Department, Mohammed Khamis Hareb from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Uhud Al Rumi from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Adil Al Ashram from Port, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.
The committee will oversee the activities of the Statistics Centre and co-ordinate the centre and its sources of data. It will also help the centre to build up a comprehensive, modern and updated statistical system, which will act as a source for detailed review for gathering statistical information in the Emirate.
In exercising this task, the committee will have its own plans and policies for the working of the centre and for reviewing the statistical work guidelines and systems of the data sources for harmonizing the statistical work plans of these sources and that of the Statistics Centre.
The committee will also ensure that unified international standards are applied in using the methods of collection, analysis, processing and publishing the data. It will see to it that the exchange of data are done in an easier manner between the Statistics Centre and the data sources and provided to the concerned sections in the government as well as private sectors.
The decree has also entrusted the committee with the task of undertaking studies and discussions on the procedures of the Statistics Centre in the area of documenting the statistical data and also of archiving and updating it according to latest available technology and also circulating it among all the data sources in order to simplify the reviewing process as and when need arises. The committee is going to offer special advises and consultations in the technical and administrative fields as per the requirements of the Centre.
According to the decree, the committee will submit regular reports every three months to the Dubai Executive Council describing the working of the Centre. The committee is entrusted to conduct regular meetings by inviting the members and also to offer recommendations and approve decisions that are taken regarding the organisational affairs that may help in exercising its duties effectively.
