The company is increasing its activities at events in the Sultanate, including the forthcoming Comex 2004 IT and telecommunication exhibition from 12th-15th April.

Oman's economy has been growing strongly, and increasing household disposable income has boosted the market for 'home-entertainment' systems. According to a survey conducted by Acer, more than a quarter of households in Oman aspire to buy new home entertainment centres in the next year. More than 90 percent prioritise price and ease-of-use as deciding factors when making a purchase.

"Consumers in Oman are looking for PCs that provide an entire range of home entertainment options and at the moment," said Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. "Acer is the only company in the Omani market offering that sort of comprehensive solution."

Acer's stylish Aspire RC500 and Aspire RC900 desktop PCs can do everything from playing movies and music to broadcasting television and storing photographs. They also feature a wireless keyboard and mouse. Rolling all elements of home entertainment into one platform makes the machines an economical, stylish and space-saving choice. "We think they'll be a big success in Oman," said Ashkar.

The Omani corporate market is also in robust health. "Oman's economic growth has brought a heightened need for technical support in key industries such as oil and gas, education and finance," said Ashkar. "It is clear from our monitoring of the market that 2003's high-level of IT spending will continue during 2004. Many business leaders are looking to upgrade their infrastructure to ensure they run the most profitable and competitive organizations."

Acer's will be displaying its full range of desktop PCs and notebooks at Comex. Acer is participating at the show through Loay International, the company's authorised channel partner in Oman.
