adidas opens newest factory outlet in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan (and in presence ofADCCI Director General MOHAMED OMER ABDULLA), and in a step towards meeting their regional retail strategy announced by adidas in May 2003, a new 600mē combination Factory Outlet / Concept Store was opened in Abu Dhabi city recently.

The new adidas store is the first sports dedicated grand store located in the UAE capital marked with the three stripes of excellence.

The new adidas store, situated in Al Dhabi Tower at Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi city, marks the latest signature of adidas-Salmon in the Gulf region. The new factory outlet is stretched over 600 square meters of trendy, inspiring interior sports design and encompasses 100 square meters of "concept store", thus not only offering value for money, but also the latest adidas products and technologies to enrich the UAE capital with an unmatched professional-sport landmark.

adidas-Salomon Emerging Markets Managing Director Ralph Kotterer said: "The high demand for adidas products encouraged us to expand our business in the UAE. The new adidas store in Abu Dhabi introduces the concept of 'factory outlet' to the Emirate, one of the most successful retail concepts worldwide. It is an aggressive regional strategic move to support our aim to position adidas as the leading sports brand in the Gulf region corresponding to the growing awareness and enthusiasm for sports and sportswear in the Middle East."

The new Abu Dhabi factory outlet joins two exclusive adidas brand stores in the UAE at Dubai's Deira City Centre and Bur Juman Shopping Centre; in addition to an adidas factory outlet located on Dubai's Airport Road. The new store forms part of the growing adidas network of more then 50 exclusive brandstores in the Middle East.

The adidas-Salomon Emerging Markets headquarters, located in Dubai governs the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Balkan States, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece. Since the 1970s when adidas products came to the region, the company has locally gone from strength to strength. In 1995, the first adidas offices were established in the Middle East.
