"Element K is targeting individuals who have not had the opportunity to receive traditional classroom training in computers and are looking for a flexible, cost-effective form of learning. We look at Saudi Arabia as a key market and are seeking to consolidate our presence in the region," said Haytham Al Ohali, Assistant General Marketing Manager, Element K Middle East. "GITEX Saudi Arabia 2004 presents us with the ideal opportunity to showcase our solutions to companies, organisations and individuals in the Kingdom."

Element K's courses run on the state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS) dubbed The KnowledgeHub, a software that manages and administers the training programmes. The system can automate registration of users, identify skill gaps for each user and record data from learners.

"Element K will be introducing an off-line version of the LMS specifically for the Saudi market, where many customers are still without bandwidth connections. KnowledgePlanner, the offline LMS, will be showcased at GITEX and we expect a great deal of interest in the product," said Al Ohali.

Saudi Arabia remains the Middle East's most powerful economy and is also the number one regional market for IT and computer sales. Internet use and e-commerce are set to increase dramatically over the coming years according to research, driving demand for IT-related products and services.

"The Saudi market accounts for 40 per cent of the Middle East's IT sales. It is, therefore, important for Element K to address the market and highlight our commitment to the region. The Saudi Government has recently begun the implementation of e-learning initiatives across the Kingdom and we aim to support the government's initiatives by providing learning materials in book or online format," said Al Ohali.

"As GITEX has become a powerful forum for showcasing IT solutions, we look forward to interacting with trade visitors, corporate houses as well as members of the public, to demonstrate the benefits of our unique courses that can give the all-important edge in career advancement and better work performance," Al Ohali added.
