Germany-Dubai discuss trade ties

A high level German delegation comprising Managing Director of Federal Association of Small Medium Sized Enterprises German Business Association, Mr. Czerwinski Hans-Werner and Mr. Dr. Ali El Sharkawy, member of the committee of Foreign Trade with eight other officials visited the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Head Office recently.

The group discussed with the department's officials the bilateral trade ties between both the destinations and also debated on ways to strengthen their relations in various other fields besides travel and trade.

DTCM Manager Missions, Hamad bin Mejren said that the visiting delegates had all praise for Dubai's business culture, which is brilliantly supported by the state-of the art facilities and services. "They were impressed with the emirate's commitment to project Dubai as a leading business destination in the Middle East as well as all over the globe. The response they have received from private business houses in the emirate has been overwhelming, which has made the group confident about the Dubai's immense potential to deliver the goods," said Mr. bin Mejren.

Mr. bin Mejren stated that Dubai's trade links with Germany has been soaring and results of these meetings and visits results in complementing the already flourishing business ties between both the destinations: "Dubai trade with Germany roused by 14.3 per cent in 2002 compared to 2001".

He stated that the group appreciated Dubai's past accomplishments in organising travel trade events and explored the possibilities of holding several such events in future in the emirate. "The success of Lufthansa Conference, Thomas Cook, FVW International, etc were lauded by the delegates who confirmed that the successful conducts of such meetings is attracting more and more German companies to hold similar kind of workshops and conferences in Dubai," said Mr. bin Mejren.

The DTCM officials also briefed the German delegates with the latest and up coming developments in the trade and tourism front. "Dubai is the leading industrial, commercial and trading center in the Middle East offering voluminous attractions as a base for doing business in the prosperous and growing markets of one of the world's most rapidly developing regions and that was projected in our presentation," said DTCM Officer Missions, Ahmed Othman.

The DTCM also arranged their meetings with the officials of prominent business houses and institutions in Dubai.
