DTCM participates in UAE Cultural Festival

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) participation in the first UAE Cultural Festival attracted a mix of visitors including high ranking officials, students and the elderly.
The DTCM stand titled 'Pictures of the Pioneers' displayed photographs of 52 prominent UAE nationals who had made their mark by contributing in various fields including politics, education, trade and commerce, law, poetry among others.
According to DTCM Manager Sheikh Saeed House Mr. Abdullah Jassim Al Mutairy, "DTCM's participation in this festival was to make the visitors aware of the contributions made by our pioneers in different fields. Each photograph displayed on our stand was accompanied by an explanation of the outstanding contribution made by the individual."
The DTCM stand attracted many visitors' especially high-ranking government officials visiting the exhibition and the elderly nationals. There were also daily trips from schools and universities in order to acquaint the students of the country's past through the contribution of its pioneers in addition to visits by wives of the different councils in Dubai.
The DTCM distributed brochures to visitors and displayed the photographs of Mr. Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem - the well known writer and poet, Mr. Salim bin Ali Al Owais from the field of Commerce, Mr. Saif bin Gobash, the first Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mr. Mohammed BuMelha from the field of Education among many others.
The Festival featured poetry, plays and various forms of music to help outline the rich heritage of the country. Other programmes featured exhibitions on art, oil paintings, photography, Arabic calligraphy, local publications and stamp exhibitions among others which were held at various locations in Dubai including the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the American University of Dubai, the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation and the Dubai World Trade Centre. Some special films produced and directed by women were also screened as part of the festival.
