  • PRESS RELEASE

The American University in Dubai hosted a seminar entitled 'Developing Web-based Applications Using ASP.NET'.

This seminar was presented by Mr. Mohammed Abdel Hadi, Developer .NET Evangelist at Microsoft, who enjoys stimulating the youth on the issues of global technology.

"Over 50 students from the Engineering and Information Technology Departments at AUD attended the seminar, which provided them with an insight into the advanced technologies that are currently available. It also outlined the importance of the interaction between the academic world and the professional one and hence acted as a catalyst in pushing the students to strive harder for their future careers" said Dr Fadi Aloul, Assistant Professor of Engineering at AUD.

It is to be noted that ASP.net is a technology used to develop web-based applications which include e-commerce and Business 2 Business applications. It provides a unified web development model that includes services necessary to build advanced Web applications of a more rapid, reliable and secure infrastructure. ASP.net is language-independent, and therefore, the choice of programming language is left open for the developer to author applications in any .NET Framework compatible language, including Visual Basic, C# and Jscript. A significant enhancement of the technology is its compatibility for execution on any web browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or AOL.

ASP.net has been specifically designed to collaborate with other programming tools including Visual Studio.NET which eases the task of web development and provides the benefits of the tools combined such as GUI (Graphical User Interface) enabling developers the ability to drop server controls onto a Web page for a two way dynamic interaction.
