Malécon appoints restaurant manager

Originally from Cuba, Omar, a graduate of the Gastronomy and Hotel Management School in Cuba has extensive experience in the hospitality industry. He started his career as Restaurant Manager of Sofitel Hotel in Cuba, part of the Accor Group and has worked with Melia Hotel, Riu, a German hotel and the Oasis hotel in Cuba. After that, Omar moved on to work for Las Palmas in Spain.

As Omar was part of the team working on the first restaurant opened in Dubai by Mark Turner, owner of Malécon, he has a soft spot for Dubai and for promoting his home country, Cuba, to UAE residents. He is a wine specialist and an expert who has mastered the art of serving cigars.

In his current position Omar will play a crucial role in ensuring diners get the very best of the Cuban experience through the ambience, food and entertainment offered at Malécon. As he speaks five languages, Omar is able to converse with diners and help them with the selection of dishes and the wide choice exotic cocktails on offer at Malécon.
