Now in its 10th year, the MECT show focuses on helping regional organisations become more efficient, effective and profitable whilst achieving rapid returns on their investments in converging communications solutions.

According to Dominick Keenaghan, President of show organisers INSIGHTS, "Recent regional events such as the continuing liberalization of telecoms markets are driving the need for ambitious Middle East organisations to join with capable and sophisticated solutions partners to help them realise the proven benefits of converged voice, data and web solutions. This not only involves easy, anywhere, 24/7 access to enterprise resources, transactional data and other information, but requires leveraging existing legacy voice and data elements. The MECT show has proven itself to be the ideal forum for regional professionals looking to learn and gain a competitive edge from these compelling opportunities and topics."

Leading the charge into this brave new world of "connected people and information" are customer self-services technologies leader
Intervoice. Intervoice, with a Dubai regional office, will be using MECT 2004 to emphasize their open, standards-based approach for delivering innovative voice and data convergence solutions and how they are now in a position to deliver these solutions on hardware-agnostic platforms. Of particular interest to show visitors will be their capabilities to
integrate advanced text-to-speech and automatic speech recognition technologies into innovative, efficiency-enhancing projects such as voice
portals.

Another prominent participant taking advantage of the MECT forum is industry heavyweight Intel. Intel, in association with their regional, DIC-based distribution partner, POST CTIME, will be conducting their annual Telecoms solutions seminar alongside the show on May 31. Targeted at both new and experienced developers, resellers, software vendors and systems integrators, invitees to the Intel "Telecoms Opportunities" seminar will come way with in-depth information on the key products that are shaping the future of communications. In particular delegates will learn about new modular technologies in platforms, software, boards and silicon, standards that are catalyzing new telecoms services and growth, and new business opportunities in communications market segments such as contact centres, messaging and converged PBX (Private Branch Exchange).

Talk of IP communications invariably reverts to the ultimate migration towards universal IP Telephony and a core application and growth area here is the Contact Centre. Worldwide market leaders, Avaya, teaming with outsourcing specialist BUZZ Contact Centre, will be highlighting their prowess in these fields at the show. Claiming a number of world firsts in
both IP-enabled PBX's and Global IP Telephony solutions, Avaya will be explaining their vision and ability to execute Contact Centre
infrastructure and their new route to market for the region which enables them to get much closer to customers and their business issues.

Other leading companies participating at MECT 2004 include Captaris, Altitude Software, Swyx Solutions, Symon, Emerging Technologies, Envox, Superphone, Timna Telecoms, Etisalat Contact Centre and many others.

The free-to-attend MECT 2004 Exhibition commences Sunday May 30 at 10.00 am and is open until 6.00 pm, repeated on May 31.
