- PRESS RELEASE
Samsung Electronics, the global leader in digital convergence technology, today launched two new high definition DVD players: DVD-HD746 and DVD-HD946.
DVD-HD746 is equipped with DVI (Digital Video Interface) output, which produces life like image by the virtue of transmission without any signal loss. DVD-HD946 is equipped to go a step ahead to increase the image quality; the model is facilitated with the HDMI (High Definition Multi Media interface) technology and DCDi (Directional Correlation De-interlacing) technology.
HDMI is an all-digital audio/video interface, which combines video and audio into a single digital interface between various digital and audio devices. Benefits of HDMI are uncompressed digital video, upto 5 gigabyte per second bandwidth, single connector between the video source and the television. DCDi eliminates the jagged edges that appear when standard video is viewed on progressive scan displays. This means the progressive-scan DVD player that features DCDi technology produces images that look more smooth and natural.
"As a digital convergence leader, Samsung is always pushing the boundaries of product versatility and design. With the launch of our high definition DVD players, we are ready to empower our consumers with a whole new world of digital entertainment," said Mr. H.J. Park, Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
"Like standard DVD players, High Definition DVD players offer quality and accurate playbacks of CDs and MP3s, and are WMA (Windows Media Audio) compatible. As for sound, these High definition players offer crystal-clear Dolby Digital sound, naturally. All of the features are also prevalent in this new age of players; parental controls, various on-screen menu functions, digital photo viewer, progressive scan, instant replay, instant skip and much more. The future of DVD players is here, and it's all about High Definition," said Mr. Ashraf Sajid, Sales & Marketing Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
