Microsoft Oman appoints new Business Development Manager

Microsoft announced today that it has appointed Sami Al-Lawati to the position of Business Development Manager for Oman.

Al-Lawati will be responsible for driving Microsoft's business in the Sultanate, maintaining relationships with key organizations and helping Microsoft in its work with the Government of Oman and the private sector the country.

"Our business in Oman continues to expand rapidly," said Abdullatif Al Mulla, General Manager, Microsoft South Gulf. "I am very pleased to be welcoming Sami, as an Omani national, to head the team in Oman, and I'm sure Microsoft will continue to grow the business under his leadership. We are committed to nationalization efforts in the Gulf as part of our wider commitment to the development of local communities."

"Microsoft is working with a number of government departments and public organizations across Oman to give the people of Oman access to technology and IT skills to help them realize their full potential. Sami's past experience working with some of the leading business and government organizations in the Sultanate puts him in an ideal position to spearhead this effort," Al Mulla said.

Al-Lawati joins Microsoft from Gulf Business Machines, the official distributor of IBM. He has previously worked for Lucent Technologies as a software development team leader at the prestigious Bell Labs and with Petroleum Development of Oman.
