Egypt is regarded by many analysts as a huge potential growth market for IT, as investment increases in the oil, gas and telecommunication sectors. Major multinationals companies are now looking to expand their operations in the country with a view to using it as a hub for future North African development.
'Sun is delighted to be working with Tech Access and our channel partners in Egypt to provide both hardware and software solutions to leading companies in the country and surrounding territories,' said Amar Wadjih, regional manager, Sun Microsystems, Middle East and North Africa. 'Egypt is becoming a major center for development in the technology market, and it is important for all global computer companies to develop their presence here.'
Tech Access will support Sun partners in a number of critical service areas, including pre-sales technical support, training, marketing, and continued technical assistance. It will also generate regional leads and support its network of local partners in Egypt, offering a complete package of support and expertise.
'The opening of our office in Cairo will enable Tech Access to help Sun's partners take advantage of the boom in IT spending currently underway in the region,' said Tarek Hindi, general manager, Tech Access, Egypt.
'The new Cairo office increases Sun's visibility in the local market, and provides valuable support to resellers in the country. Maintaining a local office is crucial in expanding that support,' added Tech Access managing director, Shomail Ghalib.
As well as serving surrounding territories, the Cairo office will make available solutions testing at the iForce center in Dubai, for customers who want to 'test before investing'.
The move is a natural development for Tech Access, which has made strong efforts recently to add new partners to its network across the Middle East. Current Sun Microsystems' partners in Egypt include ProMise Services, ProSyLab Information and Communications Systems, and Raya Integration, part of Egypt's large Raya conglomerate.
Tech Access, which has also recently announced office openings in Morocco and Saudi Arabia, is one of the first regional channel development providers to establish itself in the emerging Egyptian market.
