SITA to improve passenger services at Kuwait International Airport
- Kuwait: Wednesday, April 21 - 2004 at 13:28
- PRESS RELEASE
SITA announces today the award of a seven-year exclusivity contract to install and maintain improved passenger and baggage-handling systems at Kuwait International Airport.
Nearly 2.5 million passengers and 4 million bags a year travel through the airport, which is served by 35 major airlines. Their journey will be greatly facilitated by SITA's Java-based and Internet Protocol (IP) enabled CUTE system, which will operate at 100 check-in desks, optimizing resource utilization for the airport. For its part, SITA's Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS), BagManager, will speed baggage handling and help reduce flight delays. BagManager is a real-time interactive tracking solution, delivering bag load/no-load decision functionality, which tracks bags at the airport from check-in to placement onboard an aircraft—and extends to transit through intermediate airports right through to their arrival at the final destination.
"We chose SITA for its global presence and vast experience," said Mr. Yacoub Al-Saqer, the President of Kuwait DGCA. "In providing us with its CUTE and Baggage Reconciliation Systems, SITA will help improve the passenger experience at Kuwait International Airport. Faster and more reliable baggage management will also help reduce flight delays."
"Our new systems offer much improved operational flexibility and data security and help ensure a seamless journey," added Mr. Jamal El-Hoss, SITA INC's Regional Vice President for Sales and Marketing Middle East, Africa and South Central Asia. "The contract to improve passenger services at Kuwait International Airport is a testimony to the excellent relationship we have with Kuwait DGCA."
Focusing on the complete integration of technology systems at airports, SITA's solutions are designed to help airports maximize security, combat congestion, improve operating efficiencies and reduce costs. They also provide airports with the technology architecture
required to take advantage of a broad range of services based on Internet Protocols (IP) that are vital to the future of the air transport industry.
