Dubai becomes international platform for professionals and specialists in the fields of Beauty, Cosmetics, Wellness and Spas during a three day beauty event

Beautyworld / Wellness & Spas Middle East 2004, marketed and branded under the well-known name 'Gulf Beauty' for the last eight years, takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 26 to 28, 2004.

This three day show for professionals and specialists in the fields of Beauty, Cosmetics, Wellness and Spas is expected to break all records in terms of exhibitor and visitor numbers.

Beautyworld Middle East is now in its 9th successful year and it will be the largest and most successful regional showcase to date. The show will feature over 400 exhibitors from nearly 40 countries including Germany, U.S.A., Italy, Spain, Britain, France, Hungary, Belgium, Australia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Bulgaria, Iran, Netherlands, Sweden, Ukraine, India, Jordan, Estonia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Indonesia, Cyprus, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, U.A.E., Turkey, South Africa, Austria, Pakistan, Canada, Syria, and Poland.

Beautyworld Middle East will cover a wide range of products including perfumes, cosmetics, skin care, body care, hair products, salon and spa equipment, natural products, ingredients, raw materials and packaging.

For the first time a new "show inside the show" will be held parallel in hall no. 3 of the Dubai World Trade Centre: the "Wellness & Spas Middle East", the regions first international platform for the professional wellness and spa industry focusing on suppliers of products, treatments and equipment for the use in spas, as well as on the worldwide facilities themselves. Exhibitors of this show will include operators of hotels, spas, wellness / fitness / health centres, leisure and sports clubs, medical facilities, beauty salons, consultants, anti-ageing clinics, suppliers and more.

"There is a growing demand for wellness and spas products, treatments, equipment and facilities in the Middle East. Every mall, residential building, and hotel currently built, hosts at least one gym and one spa. The new show makes allowance for this development. According to Diana Blum, Exhibitions Manager of Beautyworld / Wellness & Spas Middle East, the trade show will feature 12 National Pavilions, the highest number ever: Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and USA.

The main pavilion supporters are the German Cosmetic & Toiletries Association - IKW, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, the Brazilian Cosmetic & Toiletries Association, Cosmexport Italy, the Thai Trade Centre, and UBI France. "We are very pleased with the fact, that, in addition, some of the most important beauty associations from throughout the world support and recommend our show to their members. They all recognize the U.A.E. and specially Dubai as the primary export target for beauty and wellness products in the Middle East", said Diana Blum.

Already, visitors have registered to attend from throughout the whole region including the Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, the CIS republics, the Far East and Europe.

For the first time, a conference and live performance show on beauty and wellness topics will be held during Beautyworld / Wellness & Spas Middle East. Renowned speakers and famous haircutters, make-up artists and designers will give trade visitors an insight look into their work.

Beautyworld / Wellness & Spas Middle East 2004 will feature over 443 exhibitors (88% international exhibitors) from 38 countries. The exhibition shows 12 national pavilions, the highest number ever, on 14,000 square metres gross.

The show has grown by over 33% since 2003 and will feature exhibitors from 7 new countries.

60% of the population in the Middle East is 25 or younger, and the body awareness of women as well as of men is very distinctive.

The spend on beauty products and beauty treatments is expected to exceed US$ 1.7 Billion in 2004 and this reflects a current annual growth rate of 12.5% per year.

The concentration of perfumeries, drugstores, salons, spas, gymnasiums, etc. is unexcelled. It is estimated that the amount of retail space dedicated to beauty and cosmetics products has grown by 300 per cent in the last three years.
Consumption of cosmetics and fragrances in the Gulf States is one of the highest per capita spends in the world with the average level of purchase estimated to be in the region of US$ 317 per head per year.

It is currently estimated that there are just over 2100 hair salons in the United Arab Emirates and approximately 27,000 across the Arabian Gulf States. The current number of hair salons is expected to grow by further 7.3% by the end of 2004.

Dubai is targeting to grow the number of visitors to 15 million by 2010 and it is expected that the growth in the number of luxury hotels containing fitness and spa facilities will increase by as much as 17% per year. By 2015 it is possible that Dubai may be amongst the top spa destinations in the world with as many as possible 200 hotels containing world class spa facilities.
