In his short time on the island Scott has presided over a 50 per cent growth in business and Bahraini-isation has reached 90 per cent with TNT on the island. Revenue and volume for TNT in Bahrain are the best in a decade, according to the company's latest figures.

Scott has come to Bahrain from the position of State Manager Western Australia. Prior to joining TNT he held the position of Regional Human Resources and Industrial relations Manager for Ansett Airlines and before that he was a specialist in employment law.

Announcing Scott's appointment, Mark Pell, General Manager TNT Gulf and Saudi Arabia, said the new Bahrain chief is "an outstanding appointment who has already made a significant and positive impact on the market in Bahrain."

Bahrain has emerged as one of the most important stations in TNT's Middle East network which is being buoyed by record results throughout the region. This is primarily due to its key role in TNT's hugely successful Economy Express line-haul trucking network

The service, for consignments that "don't have to be there today", has been a massive boost to numerous organisations and industries in Saudi Arabia, especially in the Eastern Province. Many consignments are trucked across the causeway via Bahrain.

This has also been bolstered by new depot facilities.

"TNT has total faith in the market in Bahrain and commitment to it," says Scott.

"We have an outstanding team here in Bahrain. In addition to our unique services, our recent surge of success is due in no small way to the superb professional efforts of our staff. TNT has invested in its people a great deal and we are seeing the results. Indeed, TNT is the only company in our industry to have Investor in People accreditation, the international benchmark of employment quality.

"We are also totally committed to the concept and strategy of Bahraini-isation. We employ nationals whenever possible."
