Acer attracts attention from major corporate customers at Gitex Saudi Arabia

When the doors closed at Riyadh Exhibition Centre last Thursday to end Gitex Saudi Arabia 2004, chiefs at Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd - the leader in Saudi's notebook market and second in sales of desktop computers in the Kingdom - were more than satisfied with the results.

"We were very impressed with the number of senior people visiting the stand and the number of quality leads generated at the event," said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. "We've met dozens of decision-makers in leading government organizations in sectors ranging from health to education, and from the discussions we've had, it's clear that there is potential for Acer to increase its market share in the Kingdom."

Acer was exhibiting at the show in its own right for the first time, but Saudi Gitex will likely be a regular feature of the company's calendar from now on, according to senior executives.

"Getting involved at events such as Gitex helps to reinforce Acer's reputation as a provider of stylish, technically advanced products," said Sunil Nair, country manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. "Exhibiting in our own right reflects the importance of the Saudi Arabian market to our business development."

Saudi Arabia is the Middle East's most powerful economy and is the region's strongest market for computer and IT applications. In recent years, Acer has been working to develop its Saudi channel network in an effort to build market share.

Acer's stand was designed to highlight its variety of product lines. "Our visitors really seemed to enjoy testing out the Acer range and questioning our staff. Taking part in the show generated a healthy level of business for us and we will be back next year, even bigger and better," concluded Murthy.
