Gargash Enterprises unveils Mercedes Benz SLK Class
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 26 - 2004 at 14:42
- PRESS RELEASE
Gargash Enterprises, Mercedes-Benz General Distributor of DaimlerChrysler AG in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, has added more variety to the buoyant vehicle market in the UAE by unveiling the New Mercedes Benz SLK Class.
The First Generation Mercedes Benz SLK was introduced in 1996 and since then the sales graph of the breathtaking vehicle has been overwhelming. Between 1996 and 2004, over 400 SLK First Generation cars have been sold in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
"It is very interesting to note that the second generation SLK flaunts an exquisite overall design, several details of which take their inspiration from Formula 1. Its arrow-shaped nose remains true to its reputation as a trendsetter and technological leader in this category of sports cars," said Richard Barber, General Manager, Gargash Enterprises.
The SLK 200 KOMPRESSOR and SLK 350 are fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. The proven five-speed automatic transmission is available as an option for the four-cylinder engine, but customers can also order the new V6 model with the seven-speed automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC.
"All cars available with Gargash are of the highest standards. The new SLK-Class, like all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, is equipped with the most advanced and most efficient driving safety systems in the world. Such sophisticated technology is an important component of the safety concept applied at Mercedes-Benz and helps to prevent road accidents," added Mr. Barber.
Mercedes-Benz engineers have once again made tremendous progress in the field of automobile technology -- particularly when it comes to braking performance and smoothness. The SLK 350 is equipped with a state-of-the-art, lightweight-braking system including perforated front brake discs. The perforations are an efficient means of dispelling dirt and water, because of which the brakes continue to deliver excellent stopping power in inclement weather conditions.
"For the car connoisseurs, we would like to inform that the SLK 350 (6-cylinder, 272 HP) will be up for sales by August 2004, while the SLK 55 AMG (8-cylinder, 376HP) will be available in November 2004. The SLK 280 (6-cylinder, 193 HP) will be available by August 2005," added Mr. Barber.
The SLK 55 AMG provides further evidence of the expertise of Mercedes-AMG in the development of high-performance cars. This breathtaking automotive masterpiece is the only car in its class to be fitted with an eight-cylinder engine and is currently being used as the official Safety Car at all Grand Prix this year accelerating from 0-100km per hour in 4.9 seconds.
"We are quite bullish about the sales figures of the SLK Class. We, at Gargash, expect to touch sales of almost 250 cars by end 2005," concluded Mr. Barber, exuding confidence in the burgeoning automobile market.
