Majid Al Futtaim storms ahead with third mall expansion in a month
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 28 - 2004 at 14:05
- PRESS RELEASE
In a clear sign of the strong economy of the UAE, Majid Al Futtaim investments today announced a major expansion and renovation to Ajman City Centre.
Designed to strengthen the mall's dominant position in the city, the Dhs11 million project will increase the floor size by 40,000 square feet, bringing the total area to 364,000 square feet. Four new shops have already opened their doors, which are Himat Jewelley, Grand Sunglasses, Dubai Optics and 4 Kids. Three further stores (Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts and Monalisa) have also completely renovated their sites. Phase two of the expansion will see a further ten stores introduced over the next two months.
"By focusing our strategy to meet the rising demands, we expect the mall traffic to increase to 15,000 visitors per day by the end of the year," commented Ali Al Abdulla, General Manager, Ajman City Centre. "2003 saw a significant increase in shoppers, demonstrating that our business strategy is on the right track for the Ajman market. Combined with our increase in sales, we are very optimistic about the road ahead in 2004."
In addition to the stores opened, the centre is poised to launch a further ten new brands (Axiom Telecom, Brantano, GNC emirates, National Bank of Umm-Al-Quwain, Reds, Splash, Lifestyle, Baby Shop, Shoemart and ChenOne.)
The centre's location and mix of shops and coffee shops have made the mall a leisure attraction within the city. Whilst offering visitors quality goods at a value for money price, it also provides visitors with an area to relax and spend the day. As malls throughout the country continue to redefine the way we spend our free time, MAF Investments has taken the leading position by setting the standards.
"In short, we are planning to provide a complete shopping experience to consumers in which they can shop and entertain themselves within a safe environment inside the mall," said Ali Al Abdulla, General Manager, Ajman City Centre.
