  • PRESS RELEASE

Reuters Gulf today announced that it has launched an Internship Programme for undergraduate students from universities and colleges around the United Arab Emirates in co-ordination with the Ministry of Higher Education.

The programme, which is set to take its first wave of interns in April, will offer students the opportunity to experience working life at Reuters first hand through a specially structured programme over a 6-8 week period.

The Reuters Internship Programme was launched to offer talented students a chance to gain experience in a professional and challenging environment, whilst helping them to make career choices.

Working at Reuters, interns will benefit from the diversity of a large company that runs a wide variety of different operations and is much more than just a news agency. Students will be offered the opportunity to work in a variety of business areas and functions; from Reuters Consulting or Solutions departments where leading IT and technology solutions are applied and implemented to suit clients' needs, to working at the core of Reuters information supply and multimedia in Reuters' financial information, news and media services.

His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said: "We are glad that Reuters has launched this initiative to encourage students across the UAE to experience working life and to focus on their future careers, and we are happy to assist in co-ordinating this effort."

Speaking about the programme, Michael Kuli, Reuters Gulf managing director said: "At Reuters we see Interns as a vital part of the Reuters community. Each year many students around the world look to gain work experience with internships at Reuters: Reuters Gulf is delighted to be extending this opportunity to Arab students."
