- PRESS RELEASE
The Dhs 18 billion Dubailand development can make Dubai the Orlando of the Middle East, according to Glenn Davidson, General Manager of the Wild Wadi Water Park.
He said: "Orlando, with Disney World and its rack of themed attractions, is the fun centre capital of the US and Dubailand can be the visitor attraction that will be as big a draw for tourists to this region.
"Themed entertainment is key to developing the tourism industry and Dubai is looking to the future with projects like Dubailand, the underwater Hydropolis Hotel, its in-door ski project and Hatta Heritage Village along with world attractions like Dubai Festival City, The Palm, the World and the Burj Dubai.
"Themed attractions will allow Dubai to meet its targets of attracting 40 million visitors by 2015."
He added that Wild Wadi had just completed another record year and that 2004 looked like seeing visitor numbers break through 700,000.
TPFC has this year attracted 125 exhibitors from 27 countries and is expected to draw in excess of 5,000 visitors.
"Plans for major developments in Dubai have seen this year's show grow by a third in size. The scope in the future for the themed amusement industry in the Middle East, and in Dubai in particular, is clearly immense," said Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, President, International Expo-Consults (IEC), which organizes TPFC.
TPFC has the support of the American Amusement Machines Association (AAMA), the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) and the Themed Entertainment Association.
