- PRESS RELEASE
The award-winning portable sports audio line from Philips and Nike is now available in the UAE, offering the athlete in all of us stylish MP3 and FM radio players that enable full movement during exercise and enough music storage to run a marathon.
"Consumers in the region have been waiting for more than a year for the introduction of these lifestyle-enhancing products and we are excited to now have them available in local markets. The entire line of Nike-Philips products delivers a high-quality audio experience that helps inspire and motivate users during physical activity," said Khalid Tuer, Regional General Manager, Philips Consumer Electronics MEA.
"These compact, lightweight audio players and headphones can be operated intuitively by touch and feel and are comfortable to wear on the arm or waist, allowing the user to move freely and to forget about technology during their activity," Tuer added.
The new portfolio of Nike-Philips products benefits from in-depth research into the optimal use of audio products by both athletes and sports enthusiasts. Recent consumer studies show that 94% of the people who own a Nike-Philips product practice sports at least once a week. Most products are used during workout routines like running and jogging. Main reasons mentioned for using the audio products were "making workouts more enjoyable" and consumer perception of "less body fatigue and soreness" as a result of listening to music.
Music plays an important role in pre-competition preparation because of its power to motivate and build excitement. Furthermore, music helps athletes stay motivated and inspired during tough and long training sessions.
"Philips seeks to enhance consumer experiences, whether at home, at work or at play, and has found that select alignments with major companies can help serve this purpose. Nike is the most recent example, but other cooperative efforts have included Ikea, Cappellini, Unilever and Sara Lee," said Tuer.
The products are available in the UAE and distributed in major music stores and sports shops by Sun & Sand Sports.
