The company also announced that it has bought the 45000 sq meters Adelaide Island (part of the Australian continent) within the Dubai based 'The World' project. The deal is estimated at AED 130 million.

The newly formed corporation currently operates the Refad Palace in Kuwait, a unique boutique property designed to cater for guests that require the personal touch of home, with an exclusive level of service.

Refad Hotels & Resorts is seeking to expand its operations rapidly during the coming five years, with plans for further properties in Kuwait, namely The Monarch, which is scheduled to open in 2007 and The Square, a five-star property slated for 2005.

Antoine Yazbek, President for Refad Hotels & Resorts, said at the group's launch press conference: "We wanted to create a chain of luxury hotels that infuses international standards with the exceptional levels of Arabian Hospital this region is renowned for. Refad Hotels & Resorts will comprise four distinct hotel brands; The Monarch, Refad Resorts, The Square and Four Stars, all designed to offer outstanding services for guests. We appreciate that different guests have varying accommodation requirements, and whichever Refad property they choose, we will seek to meet every guests wish."

Monarch Hotels will offer guests unparalleled service, surpassing the levels of most five star properties, while Refad Resorts will offer unique locations with individual style properties designed for the perfect getaway. The Square brand will offer five-star service in surroundings that will be sumptuous and discreet. The fourth brand in the Refad Hotels & Resorts portfolio will be Four Stars, which as the name suggests will offer properties that provide four star comfort and service.

The inspiration behind the foundation of Refad Hotels is the introduction of a totally new living concept - that reflects and answers the growing global trend towards the specialisation of hospitality products - making guests feel secure, relaxed and at home in any Refad Hotel.

The group currently has a number of contracts under negotiation, and look to include 10 properties within their portfolio by the end of 2004. Markets currently being targetted by Refad include Macedonia, Montenegro, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Lebanon, Germany, Denmark and Yugoslavia.

Yazbek continued, "Tourism is constantly changing, guests are more discerning and Refad will meet the challenges of the new holidaymaker or business traveller. In particular, the Middle East tourism industry is growing, as our reliable weather and unspoilt beachfronts attract people in greater numbers. There is a real opportunity to promote the region, and Refad will be at the forefront of deluxe accommodation."

The company is headquartered in the Netherlands, with offices in France and the United Kingdom, as well as Macedonia, while the group's regional office is based in Kuwait. Refad Hotels Corporation both internationally and regionally provides and manages a range of hospitality solutions.
