The new arena - Gulf Stadia - is expected to span some 3,000 square metres at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre where SPORTEX Middle East will run from September 7-9.

"Gulf Stadia is a direct result of growing demand throughout the region for dedicated sporting venues," said Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, President, International Expo-Consults (IEC), which organises the show.

"Major projects such as the new Sports City planned in Bahrain, Qatar's hosting of the Asian Games and Dubai Sports City, which will host golf, cricket, football and tennis stadiums as well as track and field circuits are evidence of demand for state-of-the-art sports facilities."

Gulf Stadia is expected to attract local, regional and international suppliers of a range of stadium related equipment, including access control, audio-visual systems, capital equipment, maintenance products, electronic message centres, video scoreboards, flooring surfaces and carpeting, furniture and fittings, landscaping, lighting, sound techniques, seating, signage and storage systems.

"Initial canvassing of the industry has resulted in positive support from high-end suppliers from over 20 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the CIS," said Falaknaz.

"SPORTEX Middle East has been registering double-digit annual growth in exhibitors - another key indicator of the growth in the region's fitness, health and sports industries."
