Emaar to sponsor Dubai Sister Cities Forum
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 09 - 2004 at 15:39
- PRESS RELEASE
Emaar Properties will further embellish Dubai's standing as a global city of eminence by sponsoring the Dubai Sister Cities Forum, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 15-17 May.
Organised by the Dubai Municipality, this forum was founded with the aim of developing Dubai's relations with the cities that have already signed agreements for co-operation and friendship with the city such as Istanbul in Turkey, Osaka in Japan, Beirut in Lebanon, Guangzhou in China, Geneva in Switzerland, Gold Coast in Australia, Shanghai in China, Casablanca in Morocco, Damascus in Syria, Dundee in Scotland and Detroit in the USA.
"This major event will add greater meaning to the concept of co-operation, twinning and fraternity with the cities and peoples of the world," said Mansour Al Othaimin, Executive Director, Emaar International.
"Emaar has established itself globally as developers of great master planned communities which are cities within a city. Our support for the Forum stems from Dubai's similar principles that include extending bridges of co-operation, establishing connections between establishments in the cities and increasing interaction between them in various fields of life."
More than 600 delegates from cities around the world including 10 governors are expected to meet at the Forum. Each participating city will present three of their best practices and experiences, and delegates will be taken on tours of Dubai's landmarks and new projects.
Dubai Municipality will consider holding the event once every two years. New twinning protocols would also be signed during the forum with the Philippine city of Macati and the Scottish city of Dundee.
"As Dubai grows and prospers, Emaar is at the forefront of the city's incredible development. The region's premier lifestyle development company continues to leave its mark on the skyline of Dubai. The company has created unique homes, from luxury city apartments and exclusive golf villas to world-class waterfront developments. Emaar has already taken the city higher into world reckoning with the announcement of the construction of the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower, that sits in the middle of the Burj Dubai Development," Mansour added.
