Prominent Arab entrepreneur receives Doctorate from City University of London

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa (MBI) Al Jaber, Founder and Chairman of the USD 3 billion MBI International and Partners, recently received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the City University of London in recognition for his visionary efforts and personal commitment to promote education in the Middle East region.
Presenting the honorary Doctorate on behalf of the City University of London, Professor Steve Miller, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the City University, said: "Sheikh MBI Al Jaber's personal commitment to promoting education through the creation of the MBI Foundation, an educational trust that awards scholarships to deserving students in the Middle East, speaks volumes about the passion he has for the development of the region. The City University recognises his valuable contributions towards education and his uncompromising and outspoken support for initiatives to create conditions for peace and development in the region."
On receiving the Doctorate, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber, said: "I thank the City University of London for this recognition of my belief that education is the best way to create conditions for sustainable development in the region. I will continue my efforts towards providing students from the region, the best possible opportunities to become global leaders in their chosen fields."
Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber is directly involved in many charitable and educational activities. His desire to provide practical assistance to his community led him to offer scholarship programmes to deserving students from the Middle East at AUB in Beirut, at AUC in Cairo, at INSEAD near Paris and at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. As Founding Sponsor of London Middle East Institute, he has also given a generous donation to fund a new building at the Jeddah-based Dar El Hikmah College, an English-language, private sector, women's liberal arts college.
