A total of 24 government departments have registered with the service, 11 of whom are actively interacting with job-seekers.

The participating departments have posted more than 75 job vacancies on the eJob site and have reported an enthusiastic response to the service. Key features of eJob were highlighted at the recently concluded Careers 2004, the UAE annual career fair held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

"In keeping with the trend to migrate most services to electronic platforms, we launched eJob to provide a convenient virtual meeting ground for job-seekers," said Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment. "eJob eliminates the complexities of job-hunting by bringing job-seekers and employers on one platform, offering unmatched advantages to both sides. Job-seekers are assured that their CVs are accessed by all the participating departments. They can also track the progress of their CVs and view all the vacancies posted by different departments. Government departments, on the other hand, are able to access the entire pool of CVs."

Among the departments that have recently posted vacancies on eJob are: Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Dubai Civil Aviation, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Development Board, Dubai eGovernment, Dubai Government Workshop, Dubai Justice Department, Dubai Land Department, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Government of Dubai (Deewan).

"Dubai eGovernment's close interaction with government departments has enabled us to create a system that allows all departments to access common services, such as eJob," Al Shair said. "eJob has simplified the task of job hunting by creating a state-of-the-art online recruitment system. The biggest advantage to job-seekers is that they can access the service through the convenience of a home computer instead of having to go from one department to another to hand over their CVs."

"The Career 2004 event was the perfect platform to demonstrate the benefits of eJob and we are proud to say that a large number of National job-seekers used this opportunity to register," Al Shair added. "As the pace of Emiratisation quickens in the public and private sectors, we expect eJob to play a crucial role in helping job-seekers find work suitable to their qualifications."
