Emirates will start services to Perth in 2002

Emirates will launch next year the first-ever non-stop service between the Gulf and Australia with four-times-weekly flights between Dubai and Perth, the capital of Western Australia.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates, said: "Trade and tourism between the Middle East and Australia have grown rapidly in recent years with Emirates playing a major part in that growth. Not only will these new flights boost further development, they will benefit passengers in three regions - the Middle East, Australia and Europe by providing a non-stop service between the Dubai and Australia and a fast, one-stop service between Australia and Europe."
Western Australia is the largest state in the country and offers a wide range of holiday attractions to tourists ranging from sailing to adventure holidays such as air safaris in the outback.
The substantial cargo capacity of the Boeing 777-200s will provide a boost to trade links. Western Australia is a major exporter of fresh produce
The Premier of Western Australia, Dr Geoff Gallop, said: "This new service will play a major role in the development of Perth as a major international air tourism and transport hub."
